Partner to Introduce Paddle Pattern Collection
ATLANTA (December 5, 2016) – Oklahoma State University and the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the licensing affiliate of IMG College, are proud to announce the launch of a new officially licensed merchandise collection featuring the iconic Oklahoma State paddles.
Oklahoma State’s Paddle Pattern program pays homage to the Paddle People, a student organization of over 250 members, who camp out days ahead of Cowboy home football games to guarantee the first row behind the stadium’s padded walls. A tradition in Boone Pickens Stadium since the late 1990s, the Paddle People bang their notorious orange wooden paddles on the stadium walls to create an echoing boom that reverberates throughout the stadium, adding the Cowboys’ home field advantage.
Inspired by this unique OSU tradition, CLC’s creative services team developed the original logos and paddle pattern to create a unique merchandise program for OSU fans. The Paddle Pattern Collection will include t-shirts, fleece, headwear, and various gift items.
“The Paddle Pattern collection gives us the opportunity to connect with consumers by leveraging a tradition that is unique to our university,” said Kurtis Mason, Oklahoma State’s Director of Trademarks and Licensing. “We were excited when CLC brought this idea to us, as it allowed us to create an exclusive merchandise collection that ties into the unrivaled game day atmosphere in Boone Pickens Stadium and the passion of OSU fans.”
“Our goal was to help OSU develop a unique, consumer-focused merchandise experience that would resonate with Cowboy fans while elevating the university’s brand,” said Cory Moss, SVP and Managing Director, CLC. “Our in-house creative team took a cool university tradition and turned it into a brand extension that could be used at retail to grow the Oklahoma state brand.”
Paddle Pattern merchandise is available for sale at the Oklahoma State University Store, game-day concessions, and participating retailers.
